The Western Front Association was formed in 1980 with the aim of furthering interest in the period 1914 - 1918, to perpetuate the memory, courage and comradeship of those on all sides who served their countries at home, in France and Flanders and further afield during The Great War. It does not seek to justify or glorify war. it is not a re-enactment society nor is it commercially motivated. It is entirely non-political and anyone with an interest in the subject is welcome to join us.

The Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire Branch is one of approximately 50 Branches throughout the United Kingdom (and overseas) that organise meetings with guest speakers, to exchange information and for social purposes. Our income is derived from door donations and these are used to fund a series of ten meetings each year at which we invite a guest speaker to talk about a particular aspect of The Great War.

These talks are currently held at our regular "home", St George's School, Harpenden, Hertfordshire. Details of forthcoming talks can be viewed on the "Forthcoming Events" tab on this webpage and a write up of past talks can be found on the "Notes From Past Meetings" tab

We also produce a monthly e-Newsletter and arrange an annual Seminar with our colleagues from the WFA Milton Keynes Branch.

We are a sociable group and welcome new members joining us at any of our Meetings.

Should you have any questions about any of the above or wish to contact us to ask any questions about our Branch's Activities then please feel free to drop us a line using the "Contact Us" option on this website.
